    OpenVPN performance of the RT-AC86U

Thanks kamoj, same observations here, NordVPN's data of recommended servers does not help, often they are very slow. The best way getting the fastest server I found was ping-testing, used "IP tools for excel" for that, I see that such a nearby server can have a high load, but still for me they...

    OpenVPN performance of the RT-AC86U

Well, its not that bad, pay my ISP for 100Mbps and in 90% of the time I get 96Mbps over NordVPN tcp connection at 1 selected server. If this server congests and drops to say 50%, another of my 3 defined servers delivers 96Mbps at the same time. So selecting from defined servers the fastest VPN...

    OpenVPN performance of the RT-AC86U

Very happy with my RT-AC86U, Merlin 384.10_2 and NordVPN on TCP, there is only 1 thing troubling me sometimes. The average loss in speed compared to no VPN is only 4% But sometimes NordVPN server active on my system, drops its performance to say 50% and I have to change to another one to regain...

can vpnclient set this value forcing a VPN-service, or must it be set manually on both sides?

How to really clean VPN client settings

somehow solved my problem. As old data kept reappearing after factory resets, I thought maybe it has to do something with cashed data, so first cleared (besides chrome) up all computer cashes. This did not solve the problem, then I decided to use another computer to configure VPN-Clients and...

How to really clean VPN client settings

In the meanwhile I downgraded from 384.7_2 to 384.7_0, after manual reboot all VPN client entries where blank again, to be sure I ran "Default"on (empty) clients and started a new entry on Client 1. All went well: 1. placed "NL234NordVPNtcp" in description, 2. after upload of the OpenVPN-file...

How to really clean VPN client settings

I'm getting crazy here, same old VPN data back again in VPN client settings but second "Initialize" plus Manual reboot does not clear data now This is really very strange, somehow I'm not succeeding in completely clearing the data. Could it be that 384.7_2 and 384.7_0 do not clear VPN settings...

How to really clean VPN client settings

Not sure what you meant with "manually reboot each time" What I did was: 1. "Initialize" again. 2. After that the new Asus configuration screen appears. 3. now on router button off, waiting and button on 4. Set basic configuration Now all data is cleared/cleaned, guess missing point 3 caused...

How to really clean VPN client settings

After running a VPN-client for months on my RT-AC86U , I noticed connection was lost so decided: 1. upgrade from 384.7_0 to 384.7_2 2. After successful update I did a factory default <Initialize> Now somehow the VPN client settings are not completely cleared see printscreen below. Also...

Separate wireless connection for VPN access

find out what your TV's ip is and route that IP address to VPN In your case: TV - IPfromTV - 0.0.0.0 - VPN Defining only this route would direct your TV to VPN leaving everything else to WAN

Separate wireless connection for VPN access

don't know the specifics of your TV but why would you need a separate network? Can you connect your TV to internet via your router?

Separate wireless connection for VPN access

the explanation of your problem is a bit confusing. If your Netflix accepts the ip of your VPN (mine does) just establish the VPN connection with that ip and run Netflix on it. You can have all internet connections for all clients run over it or just 1 client and everything in between.

How would you go about setting up a asuswrt-merlin killswitch to allow one device (a Roku s through?

Hi again, sure, with the route 192.168.1.0/24 to VPN you direct all clients to VPN. If you add a new route: 192.168.1.209 to WAN you make an exeption only for that IP. BTW, doesn't your VPN provider allow Netflix streaming, could be handy when abroad.....
