Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

I have been trying to set up OpenVPN as VPN Server to connect to with iOS and Android devices. I got as far as being able to connect with iOS and Android devices to the router. However neither one can see/access other devices on the LAN. Router is a RT-AC68P with f/w 384.6. I have tried to...

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

    92. I am sorry, but I think I was not quite clear in my initial post. AB is starting up, but pixelserv-tls is not. I reinstalled the 'whole package' incl. pixelserv again. Hopefully this fixed it.

    Thanks - that fixed it!

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

It seems that every time after a router f/w update the AB-solution no longer starts automatically. (It seems to survive router reboots though). The AB menu tells me that pixelserv-tls is not running. Therefore I thought it might be the easiest to do a complete reinstall of the AB solution...

    Best choice for access point?

Thanks for the info. I think handling basic AP duties would be sufficient for my use case. So I should be good.

    Best choice for access point?

If you simply add a Ubiquiti UniFi AP to an ASUS router setup, do you still get the same WIFI performance, robustness, etc. as opposed to using the Ubiquiti UniFi with an Ubiquiti router?

    AdBlocking with combined hosts file

Thanks much for the pointer. I will give his suggestion "As an alternative you could set the filter to "Router" and then set the router's WAN DNS to OpenDNS. That way you would get local name resolution and still force the use of OpenDNS" a try. This seems to be the best of both worlds.

    AdBlocking with combined hosts file

That's intriguing. Let's see how well this will actually work.

    AdBlocking with combined hosts file

I use it for my iOS devices on my network. FF + Adblock Plus for my PCs

    AdBlocking with combined hosts file

Thanks for your help! I made these amendments as you suggested (I had to create an (empty) dmsmasq.log file manually though.) When I enter e.g. "www.moviedollars.com" (one of the lines from the hosts.blocked file, I find this in the log: Sep 6 13:02:51 dnsmasq[21975]: query[AAAA]...

    AdBlocking with combined hosts file

I was wondering what the best way would be to verify that the adblocking as described in the 1. post has been successfully installed and configured (I understand that there may always be some that may slip through, unless you add them to the black list). I use the "2. Advanced Method". Reason...

[How-to] Adblock Plus filters right on router

Where you able to resolve it? How do you start these (2) services manually? My ad block set up is also broken as of late (Internet access is blocked for IP range specified in firewall-start). I am not sure if this is related to my recent f/w upgrades. I could not find anything out of the...

"Transfer ASUS DDNS name" -- What exactly does it do?

I found this toggle under Administration - Restore/Save/Upload Setting and was wondering what it does. I have (2) identical AC-87; one configured as router, the other one as AP. Occasionally, I switch them around, e.g. to test different f/w or settings. Since I use ASUS's DDNS service I...

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

Got it, thanks! (I had it overwritten on mine already to just the router model name.)
