    Replace entire large home network?

Thanks all. I went with the Unifi range, 5 of their beta HD AP's. It works. Not thrilled with range or speeds on the iPhone 7, just feet from an AP. Same as the airports. Working on it now

    Replace entire large home network?

I am not running a business but I am running a fairly large home network. 45-50 devices at any given time, most wired. Only wireless is really iPhones and iPads. Really only looking for solid wave 2 for highest wireless throughput. I'm getting 330mb up and 500 down now. Nice but I want faster if...

    Replace entire large home network?

Seems to me despite the more difficult configuration that the Unifi system would fit my bill. I do not run QOS although maybe I should. I also do not run vlans as my first couple attempts locked me out of my network completely. I went ahead and ordered 5 uap-AC-hd which are their newest wave 2...

    Replace entire large home network?

Looked at the linksys stuff. Much more expensive then ubiquiti. I could keep the Apple setup but 1, little to no support anymore, 3, if I can do better and get 5ghz and zero wired throuput loss I'd prefer that. I often was told to vlan my home automation (crestron). Never had much of an...

    Replace entire large home network?

I had just assumed by reading till I pass out that the wired only routers, being cheap, are also more powerful. For me, power isn't in options but rather raw speed. If I couple fastest router with fastest wifi setup, I'm happy. I'm not gonna do this to go from 800mb to 850mg. Lol. Stable and...

    Replace entire large home network?

Thanks buddy. I have no intention of using 1. My plan was a wired router, 3-4 AP's all wired. The linksys, netgear, ubiquiti etc will be solely routing. If it's an netgear x10, Asus or any consumer with built in wifi I will use that as the router and AP for the area that router is placed.

    Replace entire large home network?

The linksys ea5400 also doesn't look bad. Right up there with x10.

    Replace entire large home network?

Interesting reply and thank you. If I go ubiquiti I was going to do unifi I think so the AP's, switches and router are all managed in 1 place. Interesting that you say consumer router will be as fast. Is this true for wired as well? Again, my ultimate Objective is gigabit speed, wired for sure...

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

Ok guys... I got Dd-wrt loaded (no offense Merlin). I have both files and just chose DD. that said, here's hoe I got it loaded- shut off wireless on my mac. Connected Ethernet to tm-1900. Reset by holding reset while either plugging power in or turning in power button. Once flashing slowly...

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

Can someone explain how to upgrade my firmware to Merlin, or even DD-WRT on the TM-1900. I've used Merlin for years, I know how to use it and upgrade firmware, but the TM-1900 has locked me out of both the GUI upgradeability, nor can I telnet into the device. Perhaps there are some special...

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

Do you have instructions on how to do that? I've used your firmware on all of my Asus products and while I have no problems with my TM-1900's (2, soon to be 3), like to live on the cutting edge! Thank Merlin!

    NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Router

Thanks guys. Sounds to me I might be best putting back the R7000 (which worked fine as a router, although the r7500 does seem a little quicker on wired web) and maybe buying 2 more and using those in AP mode. I am running dd-wrt in it and it's generally pretty stable. I'm thinking if I stay with...

    NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Router

Thanks Tim. So what you are saying is that pretty much nothing is going to get 1750MBPS, 1900, 2350, etc. At least for a few years in the foreseeable future? That said, for the most solid wired and wireless throughput with what my devices can handle (which are regular phone, AC devices...
