    $30 dollar twin-bay SATA dock for 2 USB3 drives on RT-AC68u

There seems to be some controversy about this particular series of drives. What is has is actually no longer called TLER, but NASware 3.0. And nobody seems to know exactly what that means. The drives a "positioned between desktop and nearline." I'd think that it it takes more than 7...

    rt-ac87u antenna orientation theories?

BTW, checking with the article I linked above, the gain of the "12db" antennas I bought may actually be 3.5db... I see that article uses 1/2 wavelength sections. I also found this interesting: This is what I remember from my ham radio days. Multiple actual center-fed vertically-oriented...

    rt-ac87u antenna orientation theories?

They are typically stacked collinear arrays. I'm not sure where anybody gets off calling these "dipoles", because dipoles are center-fed, and these are end-fed. I let my ham license lapse a long time ago, but I do remember some of it... I think members may find this article interesting...

    rt-ac87u antenna orientation theories?

Or the decorative "stubby" antenna I got for my MiniCooper. Upon close examination, it is no antenna at all! It is purely decorative!

    $30 dollar twin-bay SATA dock for 2 USB3 drives on RT-AC68u

It doesn't really have a USB hub inside? It doesn't need any special driver? I love SATA docks, though I only use them for "utility" purposes. That is, I have one laying around to plug into various systems to make a special backup, etc. I just recently replaced my old USB 2.0 ThermalTake...

    Mobile app for ASUS routers

Oh, did you mean +- 6dBm over various channels? Higher channels will get lower levels. If the one with the median frequencies is near 0dBm, that is perfect.

    Mobile app for ASUS routers

0 dbM is a perfect level. +-6db means your cable needs to be replaced, or at least they need to do the usual replacement of connectors, assuming there is enough cable left to do that. ;)

Share What You Know: ASUS RT-AC3200 News, Release Date, Price and Expectations

The base of the case looks similar to the AC87. AC87 has screw slots in the base. the legs help you to position it over the screws, as they create a space. (The slots are in the flat part of the case, not in the legs.) But looking at the picture, wall-mounting will upset the antenna geometry...

The AC87 is wall-mountable, and so I would expect the same.

    Mobile app for ASUS routers

It surprises me how few apps are in the iOS App Store (haven't checked Android) that implement an iPerf client, and those that do are ridiculously expensive. It's not rocket science. Should I write an app for that? Could I get 0.99 for it? (The One freebie that I found was the he.net app...

    OpenVPN performance

Maybe somebody can clear up a bit of confusion for me. I notice in the PrivateTunnel configurations that a single client configuration allows connection to multiple servers. That is, both TCP and UDP, and - I think - even multiple URLs. (Sorry, I don't have it in front of me.) I understand...

How to Lower Range of wireless

That's what the password is for. If you are using WPA encryption, you are secure. If anybody cracks your signal, they have applied sufficient horsepower to the job that you have much bigger worries. (Like hiring a good defense attorney and watching your back.) (e.g. it's a government agency...

Increase Tx Power in Latest Firmwares?

As a practical matter, this won't do much. Increasing power from 80mw to 100mw will give you only a 1db boost. It's something - but... it's practically nothing. It's that inconvenient inverse square law...

having a time getting expected wifi speeds

What Merlin said. Your "expectation" is unrealistic. Maximum rates are just that - maximum. Throughput might approach maximum rate with the router and client sealed in a lead box. SpeedTest won't tell you your LAN throughput at all, since it is limited by your Internet connection the test...

    Mobile app for ASUS routers

There is a small FAQ. It doesn't say much: Is there some throughout-measurement capability built-in to all WiFi routers? Any idea how they are doing this?
