Update: Using wifi analyzer app on my cell phone I picked the least busy 2.4Ghz channel. As for the 5Ghz channels, I picked ones that had no other signals showing. So far it has run 2 weeks after turning the wi-fi off then back on with the external button. Keeping fingers crossed....

I found what broke the site scan function. If I set the wireless MAC filter to enabled, enter my wi-fi devices using the 'allow' function Then site scan does not work. Disable the filter and the scan works.
