Thanks for that. I looked up their server address and they have 8 round-robin DNS entries so maybe they're trying to make use of those in some strange way?
I tried setting reneg-sec to 0 but my browser failed an hour or so later with a DNS error. I could look up the DNS in an external site, so...
Thanks, it's here @ https://www.snbforums.com/threads/connection-refused-problems-with-merlin-on-asus-rt-ac88u.39541/
It had been working fine until last Tuesday (30th May). Then we just started receiving connection refused messages while browsing - further details in the posting. I hadn't...
Thanks for sharing. I was already using Merlin but recently have been having trouble with my VPN (PrivateTunnel, reported elsewhere) so thought I'd give DD-WRT a go. But like I say, I don't seem to have that option! So I'm back with Merlin now.
My VPN setup to PrivateTunnel had been working fine for several weeks until last Tuesday, when our web browsers suddenly started to report 'connected refused' errors for most sites. Restarting the OpenVPN client in Merlin fixes it temporarily but since then it has not run 24 hours without the...
I spent most of yesterday trying to get DD-WRT installed on a new ASUS RT-AC88U without success. The problem is known, but working around it seems pretty much impossible.
The most recent ASUS firmware warns that it does not support third-party builds (although Merlin works fine). If you try...
So far I've got SmartDNSProxy working by listing it's local DNS server and web ip addresses in my WAN rules. It actually works! I'll use your script (adapted for a different service, I guess) if I come unstuck. Thanks for all your help.
Actually, I've just tried a different IP location service and it says the address is in NYC. So I'll stop using ifconfig.co! Still can't watch CC, though:( Could you post your SmartDNS curl authentication script?
I thought I needed a curl script to authenticate? I'll still be using a VPN so otherwise, SmartDNS would be confused. What you mentioned earlier was "So in order to authenticate with the SmartDNS provider, I have a curl script that runs from wan-start to simply register the router's current ISP...
Not having much luck with HMA. I can connect to their London-Virtual-USA server and get an address that is reported to be in the US, but still can't watch CC. If I try to connect to one of the NY locations (Liberty Island or Manhattan) I get addresses reported to be in the Czech Republic! I've...
Did some digging and found the solution myself. It might be useful for other HMA users, though. Add this line to the Custom Configuration of the OpenVPN client page:
pull-filter ignore "ifconfig-ipv6"
I've used .opvn config files for a few VPN suppliers without too much trouble. But when trying to use the latest files from HMA, I am getting the above error message. The log is below and the config file in question is attached, although it is the same for the several different UDP .ovpn files...
A summary of what I've found so far regarding multiple simultaneous VPN connections from the same router:
So far, I know these DON'T support it:
Private Tunnel
NordVPN (unless you're prepared to run one connection UDP and the other TCP - so max 2 connections)
This one I've tried and it's...
SmartDNS looks a little complicated for what I want to do - which is to send some traffic direct through my ISP and the rest through a VPN. As I understand it, they want to link my IP address to the DNS requests. It isn't fixed in the first place, and because of the VPN/ISP factor, it will be...
