    The firmware dated 25 Feb 2015 is actually for the RT-AC87R and a "beyond compare" binary comparison shows may differences between this file and the RT-AC87U firmware dated the 16 Feb 2015. I was under the impression that 'U' and 'R' versions were the same?

    @zoon Thanks for sharing the beta. I am keen to try it. Is there some reassurance you can offer me that this is genuine ASUS firmware and not something re-complied from source code with "special undocumented" features. I am a bit risk adverse.

    I get the feeling we are being strung along. I wish Asus would give a real estimate when we can expect proper functioning firmware. We paid real money on time for these routers. :(

    I think this is worth investigating further. I have noticed similar behavior when my apple devices (could be coincidental - anecdotal observation) are in the fringes of the routers WiFi range.
