    RP-AC56 as an AP?

Well this thread is discouraging. I wonder if the North American release is any better. I am primarily interested in a low cost AC class AP that has roaming assist if anyone has suggestions.

    RP-AC56 as an AP?

Totally different thing but Asus could do better with their naming. But that is also why I provided a product link.

    RP-AC56 as an AP?

https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Networking/RP-AC56/ I just noticed this model appeared and the big feature for me is that it supports Roaming Assist which essentially kicks clients that have a weak signal. Until now I had only seen this feature in the higher end router line. If the RP-AC56 has good...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

Anyone find the Adaptive QoS screen kinda wacky, not sure if it is just this release. I have App Analysis turned on and when downloading heavily the gauges at the top mostly reflect the correct speed but the bars for the individual clients and apps show minimal or no activity. Also if I expand...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

NAT loopback was not working for me in this release.... It was set to Merlin, I had to change it to ASUS and it started working again.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

After some additional testing WAN-LAN speed does seem to be lower or unstable now, still with QoS disabled. I am sometimes hitting near normal speeds but most of the time it is 25%-30% less than usual on my AC68U with a wired connection.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Might have been a coincidence and a temporary ISP issue. Speeds seem to be back to normal.. Now to try out these new features.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

WAN throughput down by 20%? Even with QoS off / not enabled? I haven't turned on any of the new AIProtect features ether. I was able to consistently hit 100 or even 104Mbit/s speeds on speedtest.net and my ISPs own speed test page, however after doing a full clean reload I am seen a BIG speed...

    Asus RP-N53 as an AP?

I noticed that the RP-N53 only has a 10/100 network port so I ended up getting a NETGEAR EX6100 instead... Works not to bad as an AP.

NETGEAR EX6100 AC750 WiFi Range Extender Reviewed

So I picked up one of these on sale recently for $69 CAD, which to me seemed worth the risk.. What I was really in the market for was a CHEAP 2.4/5Ghz AP that could does over 100Mbit.. Key thing to note is that the EX6100 has a Gigabit network port which makes AP/Routing speeds over 100Mbit...

    iOS 8.1 performance

With more testing no real change it still intermittently struggles.

    iOS 8.1 performance

I updated last night. Need to spend more time testing to say for sure but there might be some improvement. At the very least I have no new problems.

    Asus RP-N53 as an AP?

It looks like this little dual band repeater would make an ideal home AP. Anyone using it as an AP? What kind of real world speed can you get out of it in AP mode? I am looking for an inexpensive way to extend 5Gz to my upstairs and this little guy looks promising.

The setting is actually called "regulatory mode". I'll give it a shot.
