    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51733 (2025/03/10)

    RT-AC86U - Slow Guest WiFi

The basic WiFi settings for regular access and Guest access are equal. The difference is what you can make different in the "Guest" settings, these are: SSID, Wireless Security (like WPA), access time and allow or disallow Internet access. The same wireless client device connected regular or...

Asus RT-AC68U as file server / very humble media drive connection?

I use the Samba features of my RT-AC68U (like I did with the RT-N66U) with a 32 GB USB stick as temporary networked storage space, accessing it from windows PC's. This works quite flawless, but it does not have a spectacular performance at all. Samba interpretation in different products and...

    Change ASUS RT-AC68U Asuswrt-merlin 386.11 to ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51733

The RT-AC68U with the latest stock firmware is safe like your house is safe. No matter how many locks you put on your doors, your house can be hit by an meteorite or piece of a Starship. ASUS still seems to fix the most critical security for their older routers, even for the RT-N66U, which gives...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51733 (2025/03/10)

One strange wireless file server issue: The RT-AC68U router has since ages a USB stick attached for temporary file backup purposes. This works smooth with an old W10 PC and an older W11 PC. The newest W11 PC gives the following symptoms after initiating a file copy action from this PC to the...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51733 (2025/03/10)

I don't trust release notes too much of consumer products: they often seems copy / paste from previous release notes with some additions, and most times I suspect them from being far from complete (specially when the build number makes a leap compared to the previous public release). I know my...
