Confused on Adapative QoS Bandwidth Setting, option for Automatic Setting?

Thanks, I'll give that a try and eyeball it for a while. That post also mentions that using Automatic is not a good idea. Worse case scenario I do 90 to 92% numbers from what I've been reading.

Confused on Adapative QoS Bandwidth Setting, option for Automatic Setting?

There is a lot of activity in the house including streaming, downloading, gaming and occasionally torrenting. So in the past I've always used QoS (as a force of habit and necessity). Are you saying that I don't need QoS anymore and I should just turn it off? Otherwise, if I don't turn it off...

Confused on Adapative QoS Bandwidth Setting, option for Automatic Setting?

Should I be setting a Manual option for this then instead of using Automatic? I didn't realize the option has been there for a long time, perhaps I didn't notice it or have forgotten. Obviously the 1895 Mbps amount exceeds my 1Gbps limit. Not sure what I should be doing here.

Confused on Adapative QoS Bandwidth Setting, option for Automatic Setting?

Hello there! I've recently updated my internet to 1gbps fiber and took the liberty to update my firmware as well on my Asus RT-ax86u. Oh btw I also use FlexQoS script on my router as well! While updating my QoS settings, I noticed a few things had changed from my previous settings. Previously...

odd spam in the system log? "kernel: wl0: random key value"

That was only just a small chunk of the log I posted. It's a lot more then what is shown, as I posted only an example. However thank you for the clarification on the function.

odd spam in the system log? "kernel: wl0: random key value"

I have this spammed in my system log and I've been trying to track it down. Although I'm sure it's just a common feature and function of the router, I'm one of those curious types that likes to know where things are coming from. Does anyone know what causes this type of spam in the system log...

RT-AC86U finally died looking for recommendations! :D

I'm glad the post helped you out. The folks here are very helpful and tried their best to analyze and resolve my issue. Although it wasn't anything burned on the board replacing it with the AX86U Zaku edition has been night and day. So I suppose in the long run it was a good thing that my...

QOS Cake or FlexQOS/Adaptive for Gaming?

Hmm thanks for the insight. I suppose there isn't any benefit for me using CAKE and just stick to use FlexQOS then. I guess CAKE is on a different scale in terms of FlexQOS and is not really something I should be using for my particular scenario. I also read it doesn't use Hardware...

QOS Cake or FlexQOS/Adaptive for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I know there is a thread here talking about this but a few of them are quite old and one was derailed slightly on the second page ;) (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/how-to-choose-between-cake-and-adaptive-flex-qos.72101/) I have an RT-AX86U with a network that is quite...

RT-AC86U finally died looking for recommendations! :D

I switched over to a RT-AX86U and this thing is a beast. I even got the neat Zaku Red version since it was the same price all around and was more accessible. Besides I prefer the Red color XD. Thanks everyone for their suggestions. I just need to do all the settings all over again but I'm...

RT-AC86U finally died looking for recommendations! :D

Many thanks for all your input. I'm going to review everything and look at the models one last time and budget in pricing vs stability and age. :) So far it's down to two models.

RT-AC86U finally died looking for recommendations! :D

I reviewed this as well. Its only dirty. It's pretty clear it's not burned or damaged. Just poor quality photo for that section. Hard to get zoomed in photos sometimes XD. Sorry about that.

RT-AC86U finally died looking for recommendations! :D

Interesting thanks for the response :) I did a quick search and there is another thread on this. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/is-my-ac86u-toast.68578/page-3 It seems the part in question is this one according to the article. Going back to my photo though. I'm not seeing it as damaged...

RT-AC86U finally died looking for recommendations! :D

I know and I don't want to seem confusing. I just didn't want something that was extremely old or will be out of date soon. I don't mind if it's a year or two old as long as it's stable. In terms of bleeding edge the AX6000 seems a bit pricey for what it is. There is no harm in wanting...

RT-AC86U finally died looking for recommendations! :D

I checked using a DMM and the capacitor was coming back with roughly 19V+ 19.5 ~ 19.8. The AC Adapter that comes with it is 19V. I'm not assuming it was going to go past that. It seems to be getting juice and technically should be working. So the only assumption I can make it's something...
