Traffic Monitor Daily section does not respect time zone settings

This issue is still ongoing... Am I the only one? Bumping because this thread was moved to the ASUSWRT - Official forum (thanks btw).

Traffic Monitor Daily section does not respect time zone settings

The data in the Traffic Monitor -> Daily section doesn't seem to respect time zone settings. It starts recording usage against the next day at around 6pm which kind of indicates to me it's based on UTC (since I'm in EST). It doesn't seem to be a problem in the "Last 24 hours" section though...

Merlin traffic monitor vs Trend Micro traffic analyzer

The funny thing is the data in the Traffic Monitor -> Daily section doesn't seem to respect time zone settings. It starts recording usage against the next day at around 6pm which kind of indicates to me it's based on UTC (since I'm in EST). It doesn't seem to be a problem in the "Last 24 hours"...

Merlin traffic monitor vs Trend Micro traffic analyzer

Thanks! That's a pretty good idea... I think I would normally trust it to be "off" when it says it's off, but these days I've been extra skeptical.

Merlin traffic monitor vs Trend Micro traffic analyzer

Thanks for the links. I get it now. It's unfortunate but it sounds like I'll have to enable traffic analyzer to get any meaningful device level tracking, and hope that once it's "off" it will actually stop sending data to trend micro. I think this might still be possible on stock firmware, but...

Merlin traffic monitor vs Trend Micro traffic analyzer

I'm not familiar with what HND routers are. Does the 86U fall under the non-HND category?

Merlin traffic monitor vs Trend Micro traffic analyzer

Thanks for the responses. My router is the 86U and the firmware is the latest stock 3.0.0.4.386_41634. I've been watching the "Traffic Monitor" tab in the stock firmware and it indeed provides "total" usage across all devices as a whole, but no breakdown. And in the QoS screen I can see the...

Merlin traffic monitor vs Trend Micro traffic analyzer

I'm seeing average daily internet usage as reported by my ISP as hovering around 10-20 GB per day, so I wanted to dig into my router settings to see which device is the culprit. All I want to know is which device is using that much data. I understand that by enabling Traffic Analyzer, it will...

Unmanaged switch with OR without 802.1p/DSCP QoS and IGMP Snooping?

Awesome, thank you for that insight. It makes a lot more sense now. My network is very (very) small, as it's a home network with 4 primary users. But I'm always looking to implement best practices so in the future I know what's good when I need to build a bigger network. That said, my current...

Unmanaged switch with OR without 802.1p/DSCP QoS and IGMP Snooping?

I'm in the market for a new 8-port unmanaged switch. Traditionally, I've bought the TRENDnet TEG-S80G and I've been very happy with it, but the latest versions lack a 100/1000 speed LED indicator and that's annoying... Meanwhile, while looking into the TP-Link TL-SG108 and the NETGEAR GS108 I'm...

    WRT1900AC(S?) vs R7000

So, just as an update to the thread: I'm still using the R7000 and I'm still content with the performance and range. Since I am content, I'm not going to bother going through the hassle of finding the "correct" WRT version and testing the differences. I feel like the differences will be too...

    WRT1900AC(S?) vs R7000

Definitely, but for example if in the review there are some significant or concerning anomalies that could be sorted out with firmware updates, wouldn't it make sense to do a re-review maybe 6 months down the line? The initial reviews of these 1900AC routers are so old now and the firmware has...

    WRT1900AC(S?) vs R7000

I would normally agree, but I think at the very least what I'm trying to do is just get an understanding of which high-end consumer router actually lives up to its promises and go from there. Linksys' v1, v2, ACS nonsense is something they've been doing since the 54G days and frankly should...

    WRT1900AC(S?) vs R7000

*sigh* This makes me wonder why SNB ranks the R7000 at the top of pretty much every metric in the Router Ranker. Seems like this stuff should be re-tested once in a while with updated firmware, no?

    WRT1900AC(S?) vs R7000

So I've heard. Maybe I bought into the marketing jargon but I was thinking the WRT would be better in my house because of its 4 antennas. I haven't unboxed the R7000 yet but the first thing I'll be trying to figure out is how to position the 3 antennas to maximize range given its location on one...
