I confirm that the backport project works on RHEL 8 with OpenVPN 2.7, which uses the 4.18 kernel. I believe the newer ASUS routers are running kernel 4.19. I’m not sure whether anything can be done in that case, but the new backport project with OpenVPN 2.7 support kernel versions 4.18 and later.

I really suggest to just reset to factory and configure it manually by reconfiguring it, you will save time and headache later. I already saw issue in the past in dd-wrt were function wasn't functioning properly or bug was happenning due to the fact the configuration was transfered from another...

I had the same issue with my previous AX88U hardware v1.0, I also tested another AX88u hardware v1.1 same issue was happening, if it was on wpa2/wpa3 sometime randomly the wifi was disconnecting and wasn't able to reconnect (i needed to power off/on the router) , when it was set on wpa2 there...

Here is my final result, I can now ping without fragmentation with a packet size of 1472 (which is an MTU of 1500)

Hi, I have a good news, i just tested the Asus RT-BE88U and I manually enabled baby jumbo frame and it is working. I previously tested with the AX88U and the driver won't allowed any MTU higher than 1500 which is required for baby jumbo frame (we must set the wan to 1508). Here the config...

My setup is an Asus RT-BE88U router with 3 gbps up/down internet using an SFP+ port (WAS 110 module). I'm using the VPN server to host a NAS.

I was trying to set tls-crypt-v2 on my openvpn server, I finally ended up in this thread and created a Custom field with the tls-crypt-v2 file into /jffs/openvpn/ All is now working.

Rebooted the router and it back at 10gbps it was probably a glitch then

I just installed 3006.102.2_beta1 everything work perfectly. The only thing I saw that seems weird is now the SFP+ port is 2.5gb in the interface using the stock asus (version 3.0.0.6.102_33928) it was working at 10 gbps here is the eth9 tool of the sfp+ I'm using a WAS-110 SFP+ adapter...

@ColinTaylor sometime PMTUD ICMP packet are ignored and the source keep sending packet with an MTU of 1500 and get fragmentated not sure why, I use MSS Clamping on TCP to avoid that. On UDP I didnt find the proper way to avoid that issue

In my case, if you don’t have jumbo frame on fiber optical connection (through PPPoE), it will cause MTU to go to 1492 and cause fragmentation or to have MSS clamping to be enabled It is recommended to have an MTU of 1500 + 8 bytes of PPPoE = 1508 MTU on the WAN port
