USB Drive - create Ext alongside Windows partitions?

Out of interest, I've just had another play with the amtm formatting function and it will not let you make the first partition anything other than Ext2/3/4. It only offers Fat32/NTFS for a second/third partition.

USB Drive - create Ext alongside Windows partitions?

Thanks. I'll leave with a seperate partition for now as I'm not struggling for space on the drive and I've already installed things on the other Ext partition. Having done a bit of reading I'm not sure I'll need a swap file but it's nice to have. (In days of yore it used to be recommended to...

USB Drive - create Ext alongside Windows partitions?

Excellent! I've used the formatting program in amtm and achieved exactly what I want. I've created 2 small Ext4 partitions with the remainder of the drive set to NTFS. The NTFS partition has been restored from backup in windows and my shares are working as before. Will have a play with the...

USB Drive - create Ext alongside Windows partitions?

Thanks for the reply. I'll try the second option tomorrow and let you know how I get on. The data is already backed up and I can do without the share for a while. Thanks again.

USB Drive - create Ext alongside Windows partitions?

I've got a AX86U on Merlin 3004.388.9_2 with a 500GB NVMe SSD drive on USB. It was set up in Windows using MBR, formatted as NTFS and shared over SMB. I've created a 20GB unused area on the drive and would like to create Ext partitions to use for a swap file and have a play with Tailmon and...

RT-AX86U Samba Share - (Non) Concurrent Connections

Hi, A very belated thank you for the reply - life gets in the way sometimes. I was probably a bit hasty with my post because changing the permitted connections would restart the server and likely cleared any problem. I've set the number back to the default 5 and all is working well with 3...

RT-AX86U Samba Share - (Non) Concurrent Connections

Hi. I setup a Samba share from my router recently and it all seems to work as I want. I was trying to connect a new Win 11 device today and after the password was accepted and I tried to access the folder it popped up a panel about insufficient resources. After a little head scratching I...

    Divert One URL to Another

Hi. I've got an ASUS RT-AX86U running Merlin 388.1. I have a streaming receiver that hard coded to access "denon.vtuner.com" for the Internet radio database. I'd like to be able to divert this to "vtuner.b0.dk". Is there a straightforward way I can do this with my router and Merlin...

    386.5 Alpha1?

Dirty install on AX86U with ZenWiFi AXMini (XT4) as AiMesh node (wired backhaul) and all seems good. Had to restart a Chromecast Audio to get it to reconnect but otherwise fine.

    RT-AX86U DHCP Lease Query

Hi. I've got an RT-AX86U router running Merlin 386.3.2. I've got the DHCP server lease time set to 84600 (seconds I assume) which should be 24 hours. When I look in the client list on the Network Map page I see a couple of wired clients that were connected for a short time over a week ago...

Changed from AC86U to AX86U and Lyra Trio

I've not got a Lira but I have an AX86U on Merlin with a ZenWiFi AX Mini (XD4) using stock firmware and I can turn the LED off with the router Merlin firmware. I've never tried the app.

Private IPs going out to WAN?

Thank you very much for that. I'm aware of CGNAT in the mobile world and seem to recall reading that some ISPs in the UK have been using Cat A 'private' IPs for broadband connections. Now you've pointed it out it makes sense. Understand how cockups could make things interesting! Thank you again.

Private IPs going out to WAN?

Hi. RT-AX86U with 386.3.2 connected to BT FTTP ONT. Full reset using WPS button method, access and WiFi usernames and passwords set and connection details set on WAN page, nothing else has been changed. If I do a traceroute to random private IPs in the 10.0.0.0/8 range or IPs in the...
