@pete y testing , it has nothing to do with physical equipment, it has to do with traffic shaping. For example, limiting traffic to netflix to promote their own media streaming platform.

That's what i initially thought as well, but from their talk on the openwrt summit it seems like they're actually testing the firmware before releasing. i recommend listening to that, i found it interesting.

ended up buying a tp-link tl-wr1043nd, although more expensive than the other router i looked at, the gigabit lan won it out for me. i just hope i won't have stability issues with it. thank you, everyone, for helping me decide.
