logging ddos attacks

Hi all new to the form, sorry if been asked before?. About a month ago my ip was ddos'ed due to the step son playing cod on Xbox any way to cut the story short I changed my ip and reported the known culprit to Microsoft ever since then iv been looking at ways to not only help protect my self...
