Hi,
I've been reading this and the oposite on the topic, and I would like to have a proper opinion from SmallNetBuilders on the topic.
My curent set up is
A netgear cbvg834g
NAT mode enable (ie set up as router)
LAN ip: 192.168.100.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Starting IP Address 192.168.100.10 / end .20
Mac filter: reserver ip : DIR-655 192.168.100.11 ethernet
DMZ host : 192.168.100.11
Respond to ping on wan
2 Dlink Dir-655 pluged on its WLAN to the Netgear
IP Address :192.168.100.11
Subnet Mask :255.255.255.0
Default Gateway :192.168.168.1
DHCP on
This set up has been working for a year or so,although I from time to time have to unglug the Dir-655.
My question is this: From a technical point of view , is there something wrong with this set up? Is there a way to optimise It?
I have to use the A netgear cbvg834g as it's the cable modem, usualy it is advised to turn off the dhcp from the second router. Not so great If you do not like the routing capacity of the first router or am I mistaken ?
Thank you for your advises
