I don't know, but I would imagine that 384 is no different than 380 in this respect, which means it's not possible to get root access with FTP. You can get root access with SSH or SCP so why not use that?

Do you know how to get root-access to the entire firmware through an FTP connection

Not possible, and there would be little point in this anyway, the firmware is in a read-only partition.

I need FTP for a faster and easier configuration.

You can't configure anything through FTP, you need to use a shell to do that using the nvram tool.

You can check the syslog from the router's web interface.

Otherwise if you're using Windows you can use WinSCP, just remember to set the "File protocol" to "SCP".

WinSCP is your only option there, sorry.

Why are you using the firmware for the AC68U when the AC66U B1 has its own 384 release?

They're the exact same thing - firmware for these two models is 100% identical.
