5GHz band on AC router work with N clients?

Hey!
I'm new here so I hope my question isn't too basic.

I am looking to get a new router.
I have 2 Roku streaming sticks which according to the specs supports: 802.11 (b/g/n) dual-band wireless.

From my understanding, if I get an AC router, I won't be able to use the Roku stick on the 5GHz band.
Is this correct, or am I missing something?

As long as the N-clients support the 5GHz band, they'll work fine in the 802.11ac 5GHz radio...

(802.11 specifications are generally backwards compatible)
