AC86U VPN server / Windows Remote Desktop

[Oops. I just discovered the Security>VPN subforum. I guess this post should be moved there.]

If anybody is successfully running a Windows Remote Desktop connection through through an AC86U VPN server (Remote Desktop client and VPN client on a remote Windows platform), I would like to pick your brain a bit. I cannot get this to work. I also cannot get DNS name resolution to work on the remote platform for devices on my LAN.

The AC86U is running Merlin 384.14.2. My VPN server is currently using OpenVPN but I'm willing to change that.
