AC87U - Is disabling 802.11b only possible?

I am wondering if there is a possibility to disable 802.11b ONLY frequencies in the AC87U router.
(I still need the 802.11g to work).

Set your encryption to WPA2-AES - most 802.11b clients cannot do this...

One really doesn't want to disable legacy modes...

Can you explain why? If a person has no legacy devices then why have the router able to run them ? Here i use N and AC only never had any issues.

Neighbors with their WiFi networks - it's better to keep legacy enabled to;

a) reduce their interference with you
b) reduce your interference with them

802.11 is a shared medium, and adjacent networks will coordinate a bit to check for clear channel before transmitting - note that I say a bit, it's not like 3G/4G where everything is absolutely scheduled.

There's a lot of other reasons why mixed B/G/N mode is actually preferred over N-Only, but reducing interference is the best reason.

11ac removed the N-Only (aka Greenfield) mainly for this reason.
