I have two Asus AX58U's. One is a V1 (AX3000) and other is an AX58U V2.

AX3000 - V1 serves as the AI Mesh Router (had this a couple of years).
AX58U - V2 serves as the AI Mesh Node (recently purchased).

My question is, should I reverse the roles so that the V2 (which on paper has more powerful specs) will be better suited to operate as the AI Mesh Router serving the WAN link?

Or would it make no material difference?

Approx 15-20 devices connect in total across the AP's.

If your network is working as expected today, don't change anything. IME, these are very finicky models. Don't upset them if you don't have to.

The two routers have different, but similar performance hardware. If you want to use Asuswrt-Merlin firmware or try it some day - keep V1 as main.
