Just a general question/s. Do you need the ASUS router Firewall to be enabled when you have ASUS router AI Protection enabled? What is the difference between the both in terms of network security? Are they performing the same functions for network security?

Yes. They perform different roles. Don't disable the firewall - why would you want to?
I do have both enabled, was just curious to each others roles within internal network security, other than filtering rules of course which can be setup through the firewall.

The firewall is a set of IPTables rules that allows specific traffic, blocks invalid packets etc. AIProtect is an IPS engine.

Thanks for that, but if you are not setting up the firewall with any filtering rules is the firewall still effective for network security by just switching it on?
