AiMesh in AP mode connected via WAN ?

Will it work to make the ethernet connection of 2 routers in AP mode (one main other node) both via their ethernet WAN ports to a router (LAN ports of provider router-modem)?

Or do I have to connect node WAN to LAN-port of the main-AiMesh router?

In AP mode wan port is just another LAN port.
I see no reason why it wouldn't work.
But it's simpler to uplink them on wan port. Or my mind doesn't see any obvious reasons not to do the uplink on wan.
Technically it may be a different ASIC so it makes sense to use uplink wan port.

Update:

YES definitely working, both AiMesh routers main and node in AP-mode are connected via their WAN-ports to the modem-router. Connection changed to ethernet backhaul.
So they both are not directly connected together, only via other router running DHCP in my case.
