If I have a RT-AC66 and a RT-AC68, can I get AIMESH to work with merlin installed on both?
Will the "roaming assist" functionality work fully?

Is there a way to make AIMESH and the roaming assist functionality work using both the RT-AC66 and RT-AC68?

AiMesh isn't available for the original RT-AC66U. Or do you have the new RT-AC66U_B1?

I have these two devices and AiMesh seems to work fine without roaming assistant enabled.

With that said I have both devices connected via ethernet - specifically powerline adapters. I had tried to have them connected via wifi and it wasn't very stable for me (node would disappear). Your results may vary, of course.

I did try enabling roaming assistant and it always ended up with the node (the 66U) eventually not having any clients. :) This was with the defaults, I didn't try playing around with different values.

I have found that after rebooting the node it can take some time before clients connect to it but after a while when I check all the devices nearest the node are now happily using it so I've generally just left it on its own.

With that said, as per @ColinTaylor 's post you need the B1 version of the 66U.

Hope that helps! As always your situation might have different results.
