Allowed special characters in SSID?[was 'Unbelievable...']

Does anyone know what other special characters besides "&" are not allowed in an Asus mesh system SSID password?

I've been attempting to change the channel bandwidth on my system, however why I apply the changes I get an error message that "&" is not allowed within my password, I've assigned a password containing this character years ago and only now have I discovered that it can't be used.

I also have other special characters in my password, and am wondering if they are allowed at all.

Reaching out to Asus support is futile, they wouldn't understand me even if I were to draw pictures for them...

Ampersand means/does special things inside linux, so they're practicing safe hex..
