Yes, the anti-virus is the virus.

Worth pointing out that both Norton and Avira are owned by the same parent company. And I _think_ they also just purchased Avast.

Choose your AV protection wisely :)

Sometimes even when you are paying you are the product.

Bitdefender and simillar are even tracking your Position if not turned off in the
Options when logged into there Hompage and you have disabled it.

I'm old enough to remember getting virus definitions off the message boards.
I can recall using McAfee antivirus. I wonder what ever happened to that guy?;)

He was on the run for murder at one point, believe it or not. I think he died in jail?

As for LifeLock (Pre Norton acquisition) anyone remember the arrogant CEO who advertised his SSN on billboards and trucks as a show of his confidence… Got his identity stolen over a dozen times lol

I’ve always hated Norton AV and this crypto nonsense only reinforced my view lol.

It`s even worse than it may appear at first glance. Symantec keeps a hefty portion of the earned cryptos (something like 15%? Can`t remember for sure the exact number), which means they are effectively making money out of all of their customer's power and CPU usage...
