Anyone get the AC3200 VPN Client feature working?

Like the title, anyone get the AC3200 VPN Client feature working?

Im trying to use it via Openvpn, with PIA as my vpn provider. I've downloaded their openvpn profiles, imported them as directed on the router page. The connection appears in the list and reports the status as good, but I cannot connect to any sites / browse the web at all.

Any tips/ideas?

What firmware do you have installed on the router? Suggest to flash the latest available and do a restore to factory defaults and then manually and minimally configure the router to secure it and connect to your ISP.

And any other pertinent details of any differences from the default settings would help too.

Set DNS mode to Strict or Exclusive on the VPN client page.

Sorry for the late reply...

I'm current on the latest Firmware, I'll post the exact version when I am back in front of the unit.

I have these features on:
  • Bandwidth Monitor
  • Traffic Anaylizer - Statistics
  • Firewall
  • DoS Protection
These features are off:
  • AI Protection
  • Smart QoS
  • USB Applications
  • Parental Controls
  • AI Cloud

Set DNS mode to Strict or Exclusive on the VPN client page.

I don't believe that option exists on the VPN Client tab. Actually I don't recall seeing that anywhere.

It's possible Asus removed it when they implemented OpenVPN support. I think they used to have the Advanced page in there, but it eventually got removed unfrotunately.

OK Im running firmware version: 3.0.0.4.378_7838-gd7e6975

Well I tried it again and it connects but no internet traffic. The router can't even ping or trace route via the Network Tools tab.

Ive also noticed the Traffic Analyzer doesn't work on the "Show By Daily" setting. It shown no clients, no traffic. The weekly and Monthly views work normally.

Update: I got it working by manually adding the two DNS servers in the WAN settings tab. I used the 2 OpenDNS servers.
Unfortunately the speed is now real slow, about ~30% vs. the vpn only on my desktop machine using Tunnelblick. I get about 75Mbps from the Desktop via Tunnelblick, and only 10-20Mbps when using the vpn client on the router.

Is that what everyone else experiences? Or maybe its OpenDNS. Im going to try another DNS server when I cat a chance.
