New Around Here
I started looking into upgrading my wireless router a couple of months ago. Started by reading user reviews on Amazon, several of which referred me here. I won't pretend that I know or care overly much about the arcana of router performance. I've narrowed my choices to the Cisco 4200v1, the WNDR 4500, or the Black Diamond. For my uses (medium to somewhat heavy use) they all seem to be fine. My real issue is this:

Out of curiosity I went to my telco's website (Centurylink) to see if they offered competitive pricing (you can stop laughing now). What I discovered was that 1) there is a significant upcharge for faster service and 2) they suggest that only their approved routers (mostly Actiontec) will work. Nobody seems to buy or review Actiontec; my current router is that brand and I'm not impressed.

Can anybody offer any input on dealing with telco requirements?
