New Around Here
I have an Asus RT-AC3200 with Merlin firmware as my main router at home. It connects my VDSL line and provides the backbone for network traffic in and out of my home.
I stumbled across the Asus 4G-N12 online and thought that I could use this to:
1. Provide a second WAN connection should the VDSL line go down so the house can remain connected to the internet; and
2. Provide a back up route to dial in to my home network should by VDSL line go down.
I have struggled to find out much about the 4G-N12 online. Clearly the device is capable of providing a second WAN connection. But does the 4G-N12 have a built in VPN server? I have a spare 4G EE (UK) sim - that network is locked down and does not allow ports to be forwarded easily. I believe that there are workarounds to this issue - if I can establish an outgoing VPN link from the 4G-N12 I could use a DDNS service and forward a port to the exit IP of the VPN connection.
So, has anyone got one of these devices? Does it have a VPN server in the ASUSWRT firmware? Is the device any good?
