Hi,

Here is my setup in AIMesh
RT-AC2900 => router
RT-AC66U_B1 => Node
RT-AC1900U => Node

Everything looked ok at first and I did the mistake to update firmware from ASUS where it seems only RT-AC66U_B1 & RT-AC1900U got a new version (3.0.0.4.385.20252) while the RT-AC2900 stays in old version (3.0.0.4.384.81351).
Then the whole setup started totally unstable with only way was to restart all them ...

Instead of going back to asus I decided to give a try to merlin
RT-AC66U_B1 && RT-AC1900U => perfect now I get (3.0.0.4.384.15_0) installed
... but for the router I tried to flash 2/3 times merlin (RT-AC86U_384.15_beta1_cferom_ubi.w)
, no way or error message it looks like to be stuck in Asus firmware (3.0.0.4.384_81351-gcb63868)

What am I missing?

Thx

You should be installing the release version for RT-AC86U_384.15 not the (old) beta.

EDIT: Just realised that you said you had an RT-AC2900 and not an RT-AC86U. Even though they appear to be the same device, officially Merlin doesn't make a firmware for the RT-AC2900.

  • RT-AC68U, RT-AC68P, RT-AC68UF
  • RT-AC2900 (use the RT-AC86U firmware)
  • RT-AC1900 & RT-AC1900P (use the RT-AC68U firmware)
  • RT-AC3200
  • RT-AC86U
  • RT-AC87U
  • RT-AC88U

Tried with the non beta ... not better ... stuck with 3.0.0.4.384_81351-gcb63868

@kamelie1706 do you have a USB device connected to the router you're trying to upgrade?

Did you do a reboot before upgrading?

Try rebooting the router and then 'safely removing' all the USB devices attached. Then try to upgrade then.

Seems I got it all wrong then :-D
Yes I have a usb disk
No I did not try to reboot before

Will try that! But at least with all in 384 (even if router with asus firmware) seems to brought some stability. The 385 really put a mess!
