Asus ac3200 with .59

I have this router with firmware .59 installed. I noticed today when using VPN with my TorGuard service my Nintendo 3ds xl systems fail to connect to internet on the 2.4gz network. I use policy based VPN as so only my FreeNAS server uses it. When I turn it off the 3ds' are fine. Any ideas?
