Hi,

Does the merlin firmware run on the DSL variant of the AC88U?

For some reason the DSL is cheaper on Amazon than the RT. The only difference being 4 LAN ports as opposed to 8 and the ability to run as DSL or standard WAN.

Yeah, already have an 87U with my modem in bridge mode. I have a second older Belkin router acting as an access point upstairs and want to upgrade that.

Was either going to get a 66U or 68U and use as an access point, or was toying around with the idea of upgrading the main router. I might just go for a 66U, which should be more than enough to act as an access point upstairs. I can get it fairly cheap on amazon, especially with the Prime Day deals today. I can nab an open box 66U for £60 Sterling or a 68U for £87. Not sure the added cost is worth it for the 68U considering I'm only going to be using it as an access point.

id use the 87 as an ap with an 88u as primary router, thats my set up thoguh.
