New Around Here
Hi guys, my first post here after 3 months with my AX11000 trying everything i could.....

Will give all the context i can:

- I am from Canada
- The firmware is the 3.0.0.4.388_23285-g5068da5
- I have a desktop with a wi-fi 6E card
- I am connecting only it on my 5Ghz-2
- The 5Ghz-2 is using wif ax mode only, Channel bandwidth 160Mhz and control channel 104

No matter what I do, when i connect to it, my desktop shows me RZ608 Wi-Fi 6E 80MHz 1201/1201 (Mbps) as link speed.

Would anyone could give me any advice?

As far as I can tell i tried everything i could.

If anyone needs any extra info, it will be a pleasure to share.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

ZerO.

I'm not familiar with channel allocation in your region...

What does the Wireless Log report regarding DFS detection/status?

Thank you very much for replying.

This is what i have on my log and i think i got why.

As i am using channel 104 and as I have RADAR sentive on my log, I should use one of the following channels
Channel 149 A Band
Channel 153 A Band
Channel 157 A Band
Channel 161 A Band
Channel 165 A Band

Am I right?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you for replying, this is what I have on my log:

If RADAR/DFS is active, then avoid using those channels... use a non-DFS control channel and likely 80MHz max bandwidth.

yeap, i live near by an airport!

so, no scenario at all where i could use 160mhz?

even buying a new router?

i do a lot of fiel transfer using my wireless network and unfortunately, a wired network is not an option.

thank you OE.

If the Log doesn't show a steady (ch#/160), then DFS is affecting wireless connections/clients... I would not use that with any router.

ZerO.
Hello, I have the Asus AX11000 in the US but I can never get 160Mhz working on 5Ghz-2? I have changed the settings between 5Ghz-1 and 5Ghz-2 and it works on 1 but not 2? Even when I choose 160 it sets to 80. I've tried hard resets, Merlin firmware, what is going on? TY in advance.

You have 3x 160MHz wide channels only on 5GHz band - Ch.50 in lower 5GHz band, Ch.114 in the middle and Ch.163 in upper range. Your 5GHz-1 radio is perhaps okay with clear DFS, but your 5GHz-2 radio may not allow weather radar DFS and it perhaps doesn't support U-NII-4 on your router. There is no client device with U-NII-4 support as far as I know, only useful for wireless backhaul to another router, when supported. So your 5GHz-2 radio is perhaps limited up to 80MHz wide channel only.

I just hard reset and it still only does 160 Mhz on 5ghz 1. Even if I set 5ghz 1 to 80Mhz it still won't let me choose 160Mhz o 5ghz 2? What is going on? Any help would be appreciated.

Try 5GHz-1 36/160 and 5GHz-2 100/160 and see what happens.

For better Wi-Fi stability I would recommend 5GHz-1 36/80 and 5GHz-2 149/80. The use of DFS channels is not guaranteed.

Thank you so much brother! It worked! I don't understand why auto channel on the 5Ghz-2 was causing me to be stuck at 80? But looking now I can pick from channels 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128 yet when I select 120, 124 or 128 (I'm in the US and shouldn't be seeing these, right?) it doesn't actually go to those channels even though it says it but in the wifi channel logo green icon at the top of the gui it shows channel 104 but then I'm limited to 80. I just tried changing the control channel to 104 and it says I'm on channel 161/80 even though 160 is still selected? Edit 2: I set the control channel to 100 again like before and now it says I'm on channel 149/80, so I can't get back my 160 now, lol. But oddly on my 5ghz -1 on channel 36 I just lost 160 and its now 80? Why is this happening? Asus GT-AX11000 running Merlin 3004.388.6_0_rog. My connection speed over wifi 160 is 1.2Gbps download and 42Mbps upload. I'm using Xfinity SB8200 with WAN link aggregation on my Asus GT-AX11000.

EDIT: A long time ago I tried changing my device location to a country used in a thread: https://gist.github.com/francoism90/3dede7973354d067c41bff5e54203fe9#file-readme-md

But nothing happened, I never created the JFSS file and I thought everything reset up reboot? Since then I've hard reset both with the reset button and GUI method. Is this causing this? Can anyone help me check and reset everything back if that is the issue? Thank you in advance.

You cannot get 5GHz 160MHz channel width without using DFS except the single case of including UNII-4, and as has been noted, no clients yet have those extra channels at the top of the 5-GHz band. And most routers don't either. So even if you're using the equipment somewhere 160MHz is /available/ there are no guarantees it will always, if ever, be usable. The most you can (legally) do is select the configuration and hope for the best.

I very highly doubt one can successfully alter their equipment location settings, even temporarily, on anything made the last few years. Like it or not, your government is, if not smarter, at least more powerful than you, and such settings have lately been "burned into" the equipment at a level deeper than is accessible without special equipment and knowledge.
