For a while now I've been having random intermittent issues with my OpenReach FTTP WAN, speeds will sometimes drop to below 500Mbps, latency (to Google) can randomly spike from 4ms to ~40-70ms and random packet loss occurs whether using ethernet or wireless.

I have set my log levels to all/debug from the Administration menu on the WebUI and I never get any helpful information.

Yesterday when it cut out, the log file displayed:

Code:
Nov 15 09:39:16 WAN_Connection: WAN(0) link down.

I then went into the WAN menu and just clicked apply, the log file then showed:

Code:
Nov 15 09:46:59 rc_service: httpd 1232:notify_rc restart_wan_if 0;restart_stubby
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Terminating on signal 15
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Connect time 632.4 minutes.
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Sent 1084103116 bytes, received 306307841 bytes.
Nov 15 09:46:59 lldpd[1320]: removal request for address of 172.16.17.70%26, but no knowledge of it
Nov 15 09:46:59 lldpd[1320]: removal request for address of fe80::8cc2:ad2c:a7c2:f99%26, but no knowledge of it
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Connection terminated.
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Connect time 632.4 minutes.
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Sent 1084103116 bytes, received 306307841 bytes.
Nov 15 09:46:59 pppd[1418]: Sent PADT

So even though it stated the WAN was down, the ppp link was still active but traffic wasn't passing. I had to reboot the OpenReach modem or disable/re-enable WAN in order for it to pass traffic back through.

I have no firewall entries currently and DDOS protection is disabled. I am running in IPv4/v6 (stateless) mode, using DoT/strict (Cloudflare) with DNSSEC.

I have changed the WAN ethernet cable (new cable) going from modem to router because I was seeing FCS errors and this helped lower the error rate to almost nothing however the issue still persists and I'm stuck with what to try next...

I have been working with OpenReach on the issue and they noticed a split 200m down my cable which has been fixed and the issue is still happening. They changed my ONT modem to a Nokia as it was Huawei previously and again it is still happening.

Given the lack of information in the logs when set to debug, does this mean the issue is with OpenReach? I've seen before people having issues with DSLAM misconfiguration which resulted in a similar experience to mine but I'm not even sure if OpenReach use this with FTTP?
