New Around Here
Just enabling QoS has been working great, but I would really like to know which applications Asus/Trend is classifying by policy? and How Work from home vs Learn From home differ. I've searched but have not been able to find any definitions.

Essentially, work-from-home contains Instant messengers, Email messaging services, VoIP services, Web instant messengers and Business tools (Trend Micro category names).

Learn-From-Home contains Media streaming services (exact duplicate of Video Streaming) plus Web services (already included in Web Surfing).

Technically it's Learn-from-Home. I suppose it could be either depending on how you use it.

I ran these commands in an SSH login to the router:
Bash:
# Learn from Home
grep -E "^4,|^13," /tmp/bwdpi/bwdpi.app.db | cut -d, -f4 | sort -f
# Work from Home
grep -E "^0,|^5,|^6,|^15,|^17," /tmp/bwdpi/bwdpi.app.db | cut -d, -f4 | sort -f
In terms of actual QoS Prioritization, since there is overlap among Streaming, Web Surfing and Learn-From-Home, the order of your priorities will determine what priority level it ends up in. Since Streaming is both its own category AND a subset of Learn-From-Home, if Streaming is higher priority than Learn-From-Home, the streaming traffic will end up in the Streaming priority instead of the Learn-From-Home priority. And vice versa if LFH is higher than Streaming. Same situation with Web Surfing due to the partial overlap.

So Learn-From-Home is really redundant if you properly prioritize Streaming and Web Surfing.

Dave, super helpful. Thank you. Do you happen to know how Asus maps to these applications? so many of the apps are running over 443? So does it recognize the app by destination IPs?

That's the black box that is proprietary from Trend Micro.
