Asus router iPhone X dhcprelease/dhcpack early mornings ..

Hello everyone,

I have a script that runs every 15 minutes (searching the logs specifically for DHCPACK entry) to check if new devices join my network. What I've noticed is that the logs are showing my iPhone X requesting a DHCP address at all times of the day especially after I sleep around midnight. Below are entries in my syslog indicating that is what is happening .. I have a reserve address set on my router for my phone and automatic dhcp on my iPhone to ensure I get the same IP. Any ideas why it keeps dhcp requesting? Its definitely receives the IP each time because I also get the DHCPACK entry which I've omitted below because I have it automatically removed from the logs once I get the email. Any help would be appreciated..

That's normal, particularly for iPhones in my experience. It's just the phone waking up to poll some network service (email, updates, etc.) and then going back to sleep.

thanks for your input. I have since made the iphone IP static(manual setup on the iphone and reserved the IP on the router. I’ll report back the results...
