ASUS routers - Connecting two LANs via OpenVPN possible?

I'm setting up a network at another house and would like to have that LAN and my home LAN permanently connected via OpenVPN. Both LANs are AC86U-based. Is it possible to do this, and if so, could I get some pointers on it?

Yeah, but... if ASUS keeps releasing half-baked firmware and I keep getting older, some things aren't worth the trouble and ongoing maintenance. I wonder if Merlin could distill this one down to a simple toggle it ON/OFF... I could learn that and recall how when I needed to reconfigure my network!
