I don't know if this was there in previous firmware but interestingly, Muti User MMO no longer beta.

Hi. Found this forum through a google search of this firmware version, and was wondering if you guys might be able to help me.

I just got this router a few hours ago, got it set up, everything working fine, then it asked me to update to this firmware version.. After the install it will not serve internet.

The router gets an IP from the modem, and the clients get IPs from the router. Both wired and wireless. But they do not have internet connectivity.
The router itself does have internet because I can use the built in ping and traceroute utilities just fine.

Tried restarting, rebooting, and resetting everything several times.

Any ideas? Should I install an older firmware? Any tricks I could try?

EDIT: Ok after much fiddling I just unplugged the router and went back to my old one, and later on when I plugged it back in to try again... it was just working..

Which is strange because I did fully power it down at least once when messing with it earlier. Who knows..

EDIT2: OK.. this is really broken. I went and changed a single setting, it does it restart thing, and after that its back in its broken mode. No matter how many resets, unplugging, anything, nothing fixes it.

I've found that with my model any stray settings in nvram seem to trip it up. When you unplugged it and allowed the power to drain they were purged and is something to remember in the future rather than performing a factory reset.

Yes it started working yet again after being powered down overnight. What the hell.. Is this a well known problem? I hope they fix it. Any idea how long it needs to be powered down for before the settings will reset? Because Ive had it unplugged for 10-15 mins before and that isnt enough!

And what breaks it is the smallest things, like setting a static IP for a host.

IDK brother but I've been plenty frustrated with my RT-AC88U, however, this firmware version is the very first stock version that has worked for me on Comcast cable. I usually just leave the unit unplugged for a few minutes at most to clear it out and its best to follow this practice after any firmware upgrade which is something that I've never had to do before. If you talk to Asus tech support they'll tell you to hard reset it after the flash then manually reenter your settings which is a real PITA.
