ASUS RT-AC5300S Selective VPN Routing on Stock AiMesh FW (Not Merlin)

superwifi

New Around Here
Hello All,
I have a AC5300 which I had running on Merlin FW and it was really easy to route all traffic via WAN and Some selected Static IP over VPN.

But recently I changed my FW to Stock ASUS FW with AiMesh support because I needed to add some AiMesh Nodes to increase coverage thru out my home.

I currently have my VPN Client running on my AC5300 AiMesh Router which routes all traffic over VPN.

What I would like to do is set up my DHCP Server range from 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.254 and route all traffic via DHCP via VPN

And save the 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.99 for static/fixed IP and these will be going straight to WAN.

I am novice at scripts and stuff. So if some one can guide me on how I can achieve this.

I am flexible on my above plan so long so I can split the VPN tunnel.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Stock firmware does not support scripting, you'd have to manually rerun it every time you started your VPN tunnel.

Is there any plans for Merlin FW to support AiMesh?
Because that would be amazing!!

Not in the near future. Technical limitations are currently preventing it from working, and I don't feel like devoting any additional time to see if a way could be worked around those technical limitations.

Considering how unreliable AiMesh currently is, my time is simply better spent elsewhere. For now, things are looking unlikely for future support.

Thanks for the reply.

I have done a little workaround to get what I needed.

I had a spare AC68U I have installed Merlin on it with VPN routing as my main router turned off the WiFi on this.

Setup my AC5300 as an access point and AiMesh Router and another AC68U as a AiMesh Node.

So Now I have AiMesh network and also Merlin advantages.

So far I am a happy camper. Hope this set up works until other options are available.
