Asus RT-AC57U (RT-AC1200GU ?)

I bought an Asus RT-AC57U (Solod by Amazon in europe). It has the same specifications RT-AC1200GU does, in fact they even copied and pasted the name. "Package Content (for RT-AC57U): RT-AC1200GU Gigabit Router"

How can I tell if it uses the same Broadcom SOC like RT-AC1200G+ or MediaTek like RT-AC1200GU?
Does it or will it support dd-wrt?

To determine the actual router model, try the following over SSH:

nvram get odmpid
nvram get productid

One of these will probably show the actual "base" model.

As for Broadcom vs Mediatek, check the System Log for any hint.
