ASUS RT-AC87R any good?

I am able to pick up an used AC87R, wondering if it is any good with merlin's firmware. The review at SNB does not sounds good but wondering if newer firmware fixed it yet? TIA
 
Works fine for me
If you get it for a really nice price otherwise I would look at the newer 86u
