ASUS RT-AC87U advice

I am looking for a router to replace my old Asus RT-N66U. Is the RT-AC87U for $150 worth getting? I've read about problems with this model. Are they fixed with firmware upgrades? Will they be fixed with firmware upgrades? Should I get a RT-AC68P instead?

The RT-AC87U has been fairly problematic for many...

The RT-AC68U seems to be very solid, and the RT-AC3100 seems to be the spot-on replacement for the 68U in the product mix for 2016... initial reports on the 3100 are fairly positive...
