Asus RT-AC87U Problem

Hey Guys/Gals

Got a small problem with my Router it's running the latest Merlin build (380.68_4)

The router keeps freezing and dropping the connection.

I've factory restored it twice now. But it's still doing it. It works fine for a while and then when I stream something on my FireTV it has a fit and is unreachable to reboot it and I need to power it down manually and and start it back up.

I've had this problem before when I updated the firmware to the previous version but i factory reset the router and set up DHCP to assign local IP addresses by MAC address on all my wired devices and that solved the issue.


But this time it isn't working but I have also installed AB-Solution on the router and using AdsBeGone blocklist. Could that be causing the problem? The hostfiles are installed on a USB flash drive formatted to Ext2

I have a recent logfile I can dump if that would be help diagnose any problems.

Is the FireTV device wired into port 1 on the router?
Try using another port.
Your problem is likely not caused by AB-Solution.

I didn't think that AB-Solution would be the problem.

I'm not in the house at the moment. So I can't remember from memory.

But I have 2 FireTVs

One of them is connected via a unmanaged switch and the other is directly connected to the router which port I can't remember but I'll check when I get home.

The switch could be coming from port1 and it's connected to a FireTV plus my 2 NAS units.

On a RT-AC87U, try to avoid using LAN port 1 for heavy traffic devices.

I'll switch that port to my TiVo box then as it rarely gets used.

Still facing this issue. Might downgrade the firmware to see if it helps unless @RMerlin or anyone else knows of a fix
