Successful auto upgrade! First thing I noticed is the reduction in the number of log entries. The gui also seems to respond quicker. Has DNSSEC support.

finally, hopefully this one is more stable. I had many problems with the last one.

Version 3.0.0.4.388.21709
ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S)
1. Optimized memory usage and improved system stability.
Related to memory usage optimization, I have purchased recently a AX86S and just upgraded to 388.21709 from about 1 hour ago and I am amazed that right after restart it consumes > 90% of RAM with only 30-40 MB free.
I cannot complain for the moment as I made many changes and rebooted almost daily, but I'm curious to see after 2-3 weeks (without reboots) how it goes.

Efficient use of caching in RAM is a feature, not a bug. "Managing" it can be improved, but it shouldn't be at the cost of efficient caching, it should enhance it.

updated via GUI, straight over the top of previous firmware.

rebooted router after firmware update to be sure of no problems.

everything seems fine for now.

I guess I’ll ask…anyone have different behavior with 160MHz? Or same behavior as the last 3 updates?
No issues with 160 MHz. Currently on channel 116 with Auto Channel 20-40-80-160 MHz/DFS selected. Even my picky Samsung TV is working well on 5 GHz.

Fixed GUI bugs... I'm using the 2.5GbE port as WAN:

More "fixed" GUI:

And this statement is incorrect. The router detects external WAN IP in double NAT:

Toy Story continues... waiting for the next update.

And more - OpenVPN configuration file:

The router knows my DDNS settings. Why the internal WAN IP?? This ovpn file has to be modified manually to work...

Default ram usage went up on 86S. 378/512mb. Bit annoying, but I knew that going into it.

No, no, no... looks like WPS reset to me and waiting for the next experimental release:

This is ridiculous. What is going on here?? I've never seen anything like this on any firmware.

Code:
Nov 24 20:31:39 kernel: cdrom: Uniform CD-ROM driver unloaded

Sorry, forgot to plug in the CD-ROM device. Won't happen again. :)

Max Krasnyansky takes care of things.

Code:
Nov 24 20:20:56 kernel: tun: (C) 1999-2004 Max Krasnyansky <[email protected]>

Update: Reset again and the syslog madness stopped. There is a hope. Leaving it powered on for now and will check again tomorrow.

Syslog calmed down, but had to reset the router twice. With exception of still present GUI bugs the rest works well.

OpenVPN server with "Internet and local network" - Internet doesn't work after setting it up, router reboot is needed.

If you see often disconnecting IoT devices- try Group Key Rotation Interval 86400 (24h) instead of default 3600 (1h).

My router still works better on 149-161 channels. Weaker and with less wall penetration than AC86U on 36-48 channels.

Ookla Internet Speed test hangs sometimes after the test is completed:

This bug was present with the previous 388 firmware as well.

Also, I don't understand why there is a scroll bar on the right side of main GUI page? There is plenty of space below to show the information without cutting UI elements. This is a little detail, but shows attention to detail level:
