ASUS RT-BE92U vs Amazon Eero 7 Pro

Twohothardware

Occasional Visitor
I just recently purchased the ASUS RT-BE92U for $220 which I haven't opened yet because I'm having second thoughts after reading more reviews and comments on Amazon about the support from ASUS. I know the recent ASUS firmware is suppose to fix a lot of the issues people have had but I'm considering just going with an Eero 7 Pro that I can currently get for 35% off.

I know the Eero 7 Pro is more limited on features but I'm mostly just looking for raw speeds over 1 Gbps and reliability and gaming performance.

Any thoughts or wisdom on either of these two devices? Thanks

Eeros have a reputation for being data miners that will destroy your privacy.

Also, although this might have changed since I looked last, I think that configuration is done via Amazon's servers not locally, and that you'll have an ongoing subscription cost for the right to configure your devices (or maybe even to run them at all). Better inquire into that before comparing prices.

Eero as basic set-and-forget - sure, go ahead.
Eero with advanced features - $99/year Eero Plus plan

Most of the user data collection happens on the client devices.
