Asus RT N-66U terrible 2.4Ghz speeds!

New Around Here
Hi SNB forum!

I have happily owned 2 asus rt n 66u for about 2 years now. Until this summer both worked flawlessly.

One of them has recently begun to loose performance on the 2.4 Ghz radio. It does not reboot or crash just get a brutal ping and transferspeeds around 1-2 Mbit/s up/down tested on 3 separate devices!!! 5 Ghz does not suffer from this performance decrease.
At the same time wired lan has full speeds rocksolid around 800Mbit/s.

The weird thing is if i reeboot the router all clients regains full 2.4 Ghz performance! Around 20-70 Mbit/s.

I've done everything in my power to increase stability and performamce on the 2.4 Ghz radio. Selectively choose channels to minimize interference. 100% Tx power.

Please help me solve this!

Best regards Philip.

Hi, sorry i missed this.
Fw version is: 3.0.0.4.376_1071 ( latest according to the updatechecker inside the gui).
I have done quite many changes from default to be honest, while trying to establish a stable WiFi config.

I have a DDNS running along with the following, one USB stick inserted with asus AI cloud.
constantly around 15-25 devices connected.
One Guestnetwork at 2.4Ghz, QoS=off, Parentalcontrol=off, LAn&wan&ipv6&firewall are untouched, VPN server is running.

That should be the most. The main 2.4Ghz setup is unhidden, automatic wirelessmode with b/G protection, 20mhz bandwidh, channel 1, wpa-2 with aes, 3600s rotationinterwall on the key.

Hope this was something! Just ask if you need more info! :)

Best regards Philip

Update checker does not always work.

Firmware version info and any changes from default settings would be helpful.

So, I'm back!

I've now tried the latest firmware for some days and today it went down during 3-4 minutes.
I checked the log file and found this message around the same time the downtime happened.

14:56:43 miniupnpd[594]: Expired NAT-PMP mapping port 13747 TCP removed

And I've noticed that one of the computers that uses the 2.4 Ghz the most(and has most problems) is constantly asking the the router for DHCP.

Anyone has a tips on what might be wrong?
Also, I'm if you have any good DIY or product i can by for analysing the whole 2.4Ghz RF band. With that i mean ALL signals, like microwaves, DECT phones, bluetooth and so on. Something like ciscos spectrum analyser expert wifi or similar.

Best regards Philip
