ASUS RT-N66U - Access Restriction by MAC or IP address?

WiFied

I'm looking forward to upgrading from my Linksys 54WRT (w/DD-WRT) to the Asus N66U. I use my current setup in order to be able to set up Access Restriction to my kids' wireless clients, to cut of network access at night.

Does either the stock ASUS RT-N66U firmware, or the Tomato firmware, offer the ability to set up Access Restriction by MAC or IP address?

Tomato can do both. I'm not sure about the stock FW since I don't use it.

I haven't tried it, but there is a section labeled "parental control" that lets you choose times.

One person put a video on youtube of the interface. Although his interface itself is in another language, he is talking in english.

Around 14minutes into the video he shows the parental control section. He doesn't say much about it, but you can see where you set the times.

Asus has their own short video. They show the control setup during the 2nd half of the video, you can even drag and drop the time frames.

Just an update. I don't know if the Tomato one might work more reliable or not, I'm not sure. I tried the Asus stock firmware to see if it works. It did work at first, it didn't allow access as I set, then did allow access at the time I set, but then the time I had set for it to not allow access again, it didn't.

But maybe its something I had set wrong.

edit: after trying it some more with the stock firmware, i think it works, its just that the time is off by one hour from the time I set.
