Asus RT-N66U - Wan issue ?

rdosemyfeet

New Around Here
Hey ,

I bought one of these as the wireless cable router that my ISP provided is probably the worst one ever manufactured.

I have a network cable coming from Port 1 on the cable router (router 1) to the asus's WAN port.

Devices are then connected to the asus router's lan ports but they are only getting around 50mbits of my 200mbit connection.

If the network is ran solely from router 1 I am getting the full bandwidth that I am paying for.

Router 1: 192.168.0.1 Firewall disabled, wireless disabled, dhcp disabled

Router 2: 192.168.1.1: Wan is 192.168.0.4 (statically assigned)

Tests have been run using downloads and various speed test sites online between both solutions to compare throughput.

Any ideas? :S

Regards,

Paul

you need to find out how to put the provided modem/router into bridge mode so the N66 is the device performing NAT for your lan

Crap, that cant be done  its a technicolor T2700 , horrible , horrible piece of equipment

Wait got it done, its hidden from the web interface, but if you browse to http://192.168.0.1/system/switch-mode.asp you get to it.

Still getting awful speeds though , checked the cables, cat5e **scratches head**

Asus RT-N66U Wan Issue???

Paul,

Further to your post, I had a similar issue with an Asus RT-N56U.

I troubleshooted for 3-4 evenings, and managed to siginificantly increase my performance by performaing a factory reset on the router (make sure you make a note of all your settings before you do the factiry reset!)

My gigabit ethernet connection leapt from 200mb to 850mb! I am happy with that as you will always have an overhead using Ethernet and I have another gigabit switch inline which is gonna result in minor overhead.

See if that helps
