I am using the router with a ADSL2+ modem to establish a connection via PPPoE setting in the router. It connects successfully and WAN IP is passed to the router. The internet works and web pages load.
The problem arises when I try to check my Hotmail emails through Windows Live Mail software, this does not work. I get the Live error 0x80048849-unable to establish a connection.
If I go back to my old configuration and use only my old Netgear Modem/Router combi, the connection with Windows Live mail is successful and internet works as normal.
If I use Asus RT-N66 router in "Automatic IP" WAN configuration, the internet connection is established via my old modem/router acting as a dhcp router, the connection with Windows live is successful.
If I use PPPoE in RT-N66U with ADSL2+ modem in bridge/modem only mode, connection with Windows Live is unsuccessful, but internet works.
I have reset the router to defaults, tried turning off/on firewall, UPNP, Port forwarding and port triggering, nothing has got it to work. This connection issue with Windows Live is only happening in PPPoE WAN mode.
The firmware version is Asus original 3.0.0.4.270
