asus xt12 app speed test accurate?

Occasional Visitor
I just updated my router from a OLD wifi5 router to a XT12. When i use the fast.com / speedtest i get lower results than using the asus mobile app speed test.
Is there a reason for this? i am thinking the asus router app is NOT checking wireless connection butt the connection coming in via the ethernet cable (cat8)???
